We’ve been home from the hospital for three days now, and we have settled down into as predictable a routine as life with a newborn affords. The DLM is as sweet as any newborn, and the girls have truly taken their Big Sister roles to heart. It has been a real joy to watch.
I’m feeling a little antsy to get things going again, but Steady Eddie just keeps reminding me to slow down and rest. As always, he has been a real gem through this whole experience. I think I’ll keep him.
I have been reading, of course, since nursing a baby leaves ample time for quiet periods which books fill nicely. Of course, this time around I’m more likely to have company, too. The book I’m currently reading has been perfect for all the little snippets of reading time I get throughout the day, and I’m eager to share my thoughts about it when I’m done. I also have this week’s Read Aloud Thursday percolating in my brain. We have made almost all of our decisions regarding the upcoming school year, and I want to share that, too. Lulu has been reading a lot already since we’ve been on break from official school, and it has been amazing to watch her skill and interest level increase without any official work on my part. (See, they can learn without me!) Louise has decided she wants to learn to read so she can read to baby brother, and lately the books she is so fond of making actually have recognizable words in them that she has sounded out and spelled herself. Joy!
If you’ve been around Hope Is the Word much, you know I don’t post pictures of my children’s faces on my blog. However, I couldn’t resist sharing the back of the DLM’s head. Have you ever seen so much hair? Just consider this his addition to the family’s online gallery.

Congratulations! DLM has a beautiful head of hair.
Awww, look at all that dark hair! Yes, very important to rest. Those multiple 24/7 feedings can be exhausting.
